Presidential Fertilizer Initiative Programme has commenced. Eleven blending plants are in now in full operation in different locations across the country. The fertilizer will be sold to farmers at a price of N5,500 per 50KG bag only by State Governments, registered distributors and dealers registered with FEPSAN. Intrested distributors/dealers to participate in the scheme can register with any of the blending plants and at FEPSAN office at No 1. NIDB Building, Muhammadu Buhari way, Kaduna. Country Manager and Deputy Managing Director of OCP, Mr. Caleb Usoh disclosed this after the presentation of cheques to 20 students of Agricultural Department and other library equipment of the Kaduna State University, (KASU) Kaduna to the tune of N5 million.
Caleb who lauded the State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai in his proactive steps, added that building a good working relationship between the OCP Africa and Morocco as a country with Kaduna state is commendable.
“Kaduna State Government was able to make land available to us with documents for the fertiliser blending plant”, the Country Manager said.
According to him, no fewer than 5,000 farmers have benefited from OCP agric booster intervention in the state.
He further explained that the scholarship scheme is part of the programmes structured by OCP to build capacity of the younger generation in the agricultural sector.
While commending OCP Africa, Dr Abdulkadir Kashim who represented the Commissioner for Agriculture, Manzo Daniel Maigari says: ” the scholarships are designed to support students research into sustainable agriculture and agroecology.
” This will certainly improve the welfare of students who cannot fford to pay their school fees hence encouraging them in the area of their studies”.
He described the generosity of OCP Africa to Kaduna State University as a development that will empower and equip the university.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor of KASU, Professor Muhammad Tanko commended OCP while he urged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity giving to them judiciously.
One of the beneficiaries, a 500 level student of agricultural department, Igboba Queenth who got a cheque of N100,000 applauded the company; saying the gesture has in no small measure boosted his morale towards pursuing agricultural projects.

  • Report fertilizer adulteration to the appropriate authority
