heritage bank awardHeritage Bank has emerged as Nigeria’s Agriculture Bank of the Year 2018 as adjudged by the Nigeria Agriculture Awards (NAA) Committee.
At a formal presentation ceremony in Lagos recently, Professor Caroline Afolami, a Member of the NAA Committee who led the Team and represented Emmanuel Ikani, the Chairman of the Committee – himself a Professor – stated that the Bank was being recognized for it’s contributions in the development of the agricultural sector, in terms of financing.
In his contribution, Secretary to the NAA Committee and Editor-in-Chief of AgroNigeria, Bar. Richard-Mark Mbaram lauded the Bank for its proficient and innovative stance to agricultural financing. Mbaram said that the NAA was set up to “glamorize the agricultural sector and provide a veritable platform for recognizing and rewarding the achievements of players in the space who have done creditably”. He noted that in the last year, Heritage bank had put in a lot of work to aid the agricultural sector and that such effort cannot go unheralded”.
In her contribution, Professor Afolami underscored that the decision was not an easy one for the NAA Committee as this category was keenly competed for, hence the scrutiny to ensure that a deserving bank was named winner. “At the end, Heritage bank was the best choice”, Afolami noted.
In receiving the award on behalf of his bank, Dr. Jude Monye Heritage Bank Plc’s Executive Director in charge of Lagos and the South West expressed his gratitude to the NAA Committee for the recognition of the Bank’s commitment to agricultural financing.
He noted that the Bank is proficiently active in various value-chains of Agriculture spanning the entire country and is in league with key stakeholders like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) in the quest to delivery, customized financial products that are tailor-made to address the critical and unique needs of the sector.
