women farming 690x450Ondo State Government has said that farmers operating in forest reserves across the State must use the self-identity cards designed in order to create a date base for them.
The State Commissioner for Natural Resources, Rasheed Badmus, who made this known in Odigbo Local Government area of the state, said the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, made this move in order to have a record of original farmers assigned to the area.
“It is mandatory for the Ondo State Government to have a data base of farmers operating in government forest reserves across. This is to prevent the encroachment of such forest reserves which is capable of jeopardizing government’s efforts toward rejuvenating the forest reserves“. He said.
Badmus further said that both ministries were the rightful owners of the reserves where the farmers consummate their affairs.
The Commissioner therefore, implored them to continue in their duties to protect trees planted by the agencies of government, which, according to him, were the major sources of revenue to the state.
