OCP trains farmers 300x170OCP Africa, a Moroccan company dedicated to transforming agriculture in Africa, has flagged off its School Lab project in Bauchi State to make agriculture more profitable for rural farmers.
The initiative, which is operated in a caravan of trucks and includes mobile interactive training sessions for rural farmers on good agricultural practices, is targeted at 10, 000 farmers in 70 communities in the state.
Also, the project has live demos and animated videos in its training sessions.
Operated by trained personnel, the School Lab has on-site soil testing for farmers to determine soil needs and suitable fertiliser, as well as the best time for fertiliser application.
Speaking at the launch of the project over the weekend, the Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, described the school as the first of its kind launched by a producer of fertiliser in Africa.
Abubakar thanked the Moroccan firm for coming to Bauchi State with the innovation.
