IMG 20180330 WA0002Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria (FEPSAN) in collaboration with Unity bank held a one day meeting on access to finance by FEPSAN registered distributors for the PFI program at ASAA Pyramid Hotel Kaduna on 28/03/2018. The meeting was targeted at providing financial support to the registered distributors to purchase more fertilizer to meet the need of the farmers and invests in their business to expand their retail networks to the rural areas close to the farmers.

The meeting had in attendance FEPSAN registered distributors, representative of President of FEPSAN, Executive Secretary of FEPSAN, Unity bank staff, FEPSAN secretariat and members staff and media organizations.

The Executive Secretary of FEPSAN, Alhaji Ahmed Rabiu Kwa in his address welcomed everyone that came to attend the meeting and said the objective is to develop as sustainable fertilizer value chain led by private sector to ensure that fertilizers are made available, affordable and timely to farmers to ensure food security and employment opportunities, contribute to economic growth of Nigeria. To sustain what have been laid by PFI so that at end of the day fertilizer will be available across the country.

The President of FEPSAN represented by Mr. Julius Atoroh in his address said Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) started in 2017, have so far produced about 500,000 metric tons of NPK 20-10-10. FEPSAN registered distributors had been able to purchase about 60% of the fertilizers from blending plants participating in the program at N5,000 per 50kg bag which they have sold to farmers at N5,500 across the country. He said the program targets to produce one million metric tons in 2018. He therefore called on the distributors to come together as a group of FEPSAN registered distributors and form a strong tie and capitalize on the foundation laid by the PFI to develop the fertilizer value chain.   • Report adulterated fertilizer to the appropriate authority
