Bayelsa dicksonIn a bid to boost agricultural investments in the state, the Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has called on the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending Plc (NIRSAL) to partner the state.
In a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo, the governor said such partnership could help create wealth and jobs.He stated that NIRSAL through its mandate was designed to help drive government’s agricultural investments, reduce credit risks, increase lending and provide off takers on such investments.

He lauded the Federal Government, particularly the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for establishing NIRSAL.
Dickson said that the state had been revolutionizing agriculture in the last six years, stressing that his administration was developing the agricultural value chains.
“In Bayelsa, there is a silent revolution in all critical sectors such as the agricultural sector for public good. We now have the best public schools and health institutions. Now, I want to create wealth using Poultry, Commercial Cassava Plant Farm, Agriculture, and others, for we must create wealth and gainfully employ our teeming population and what best way to achieve that than through Agro-business,” the governor stated.
The governor spoke of his administration’s plans to develop the fisheries sector in the state.
“That is why we are building Aquaculture villages: now we have already completed one in Igbogene with 500-Fish Ponds. The whole idea is to use Agriculture to make our youths become skilled and empowered. We want to replicate the aquaculture village in the eight Local Council Areas of Bayelsa,” the governor added.
