rice grain 324x160Jigawa State Government says it will engage about 10,000 youths in the state for the cultivation of rice this year.
Special Assistant to Governor Muhammad Badaru on Agriculture, Jamilu Dan-Malam who stated this in Dutse said the rice production programme was part of the Federal Government’s Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS).
He noted that youths in the state between the ages of 18 and 35 would be engaged with the start of the programme in September this year.
Dan-Malam said the state government had inaugurated a Project Monitoring Team (PMT) to ensure a successful execution of the programme.
“The team consists of council chairmen, heads of agricultural departments, personnel of the state agricultural and development agency, district heads, party and AFAN chairmen as well as youth leaders,” he said.
He listed Auyo, Babura, Dutse; Guri, Gwaram, Gwiwa, Jahun, kirikasamma, Kiyawa, and Kaugama as Local Government Areas where rice could be grown in the state.
Others include Kazaure, Miga, Malammadori, Ringim, KafinHausa, Roni and Yankwashi.
