FNo fewer than 15 Danish companies have signed agreements with Nigerian investors to commence business in Nigeria’s food and agricultural sectors.
The firms are reportedly part of a trade delegation to a symposium in Abuja led by Danish Minister for Environment and Food, Esben Larsen.
The firms are involved in logistics and cold chain, breeding and genetics, agro-industry inputs and equipment, ingredients and drinks, food and grain analysis, seed processing and agriculture financing.
Denmark’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Torben Gettermann described the development as one of clear signs that Nigeria is on a path towards renewed economic growth while broadening commercial relations between both countries.
“Danish ministerial visits to Nigeria over the past year underline broad spectrum of common issues and areas for cooperation between our two countries,” he said.
Meanwhile, among the firms that signed an agreement to do business in Nigeria is DanBred International; a company that specialises in porcine genetics, which is the breeding of pork stock and semen for improved and sustained production.
Consultant for the company in West Africa, Morten Wagner expressed with optimism that their activities will impact positively on farmers and pork stock value chain.
“In the whole West Africa, pig production is coming up now. We see the potential of pig production for those who want to go into that and we can help them do it,” he said.
