FARMING2A total of 221 five-litre water pumps have been distributed to farmers under the Fadama scheme of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (O-ORBDA) to boost dry season farming operations across Oyo, Ogun and Lagos states.
At the presentation ceremony held yesterday at the Authority’s headquarters, Alabata, near Abeokuta, its Managing Director, Olufemi Odumosu, said the distribution was in line with the new policy direction of the federal government to diversify the economy as a result of low revenue from oil and the consequent emphasis being placed on agriculture.
The RBDAs, Odumosu disclosed, would now be focusing more on developing agricultural services as a means of contributing to the diversification.
